What's all the fuss about mirrorless cameras? Are they better than DSLR's or just small and convenient? Is this the future of photography or the latest trend? Who makes the best mirrorless cameras and what sets them apart? It seems these questions are on every photographer's mind these days. Nino Rakichevich has been a professional photographer for nearly 30 years and as a fashion and celebrity portraiture instructor at the famous Brooks Institute of Photography, he has an obligation to stay on top of the latest technology in photography. In early 2012, Nino was intrigued by the prospect of mirrorless cameras, so he bought his first one, the Sony NEX-7. That same year, the Brooks Institute started offering a program where students spent a semester abroad in Paris studying fashion and street photography. With Nino as the course instructor, twenty students went to Paris for ten weeks. When not instructing his students, Nino pursued photographing all the fascinating people he came across in Paris. It was his passion for capturing authentic street portraits that inspired the creation of this book. Nino focused his interest on three groups: people in the fashion industry, random people he met on the streets of Paris, and people from Paris' art world. That first semester in Paris was just the beginning for Brooks Institute's Paris program and Nino. Not only has the class continued to be offered every year, Nino has been at the helm each year. Nino's passion for capturing inspiring portraits has only grown. The use of mirrorless cameras has played a pivotal role in the success of his images, allowing him to travel fast and light and adapt to the multitude of lighting and compositional challenges of street photography. In 2013 when Sony launched the world's first full frame mirrorless cameras, Nino permanently retired all use of DSLRs. He now shoots mirrorless cameras exclusively for all commercial and fine art projects. All of the photos in this book were taken using Sony mirrorless cameras during Nino's three years in Paris. Full metadata information is noted under each photo to step the reader through the visual and technical journey of People of Paris. This book is a testament that mirrorless cameras are not only here to stay, they are the preferred tool for the creative photographer.
